Celebrating Black Excellence in Cannabis: Highlights from the 7th Annual Black Cannabis Week at Temple University

The 7th Annual Black Cannabis Week celebration at Temple University in Philadelphia was a resounding success, bringing together BIPOC individuals in the cannabis industry for a week of education, celebration, and advocacy. Hosted by the Diasporic Alliance for Cannabis Opportunities (DACO), the event focused on critical conversations around cannabis reform, social equity, and economic opportunities for Black and Brown communities.

The theme of this year’s Black Cannabis Week was “Deeply Rooted, Growing Together,” highlighting the collective strength and resilience of BIPOC individuals in the cannabis industry. The event featured informative workshops, panel discussions, live podcasts, wellness activations, and independent Black-owned business vendors, all aimed at magnifying the impact of the business and culture of cannabis.

One of the standout panels at the event was “Deep Roots, Expanding Minds: The Evolution of Psychedelic Practices,” which explored the cultural significance of psychedelics and cannabis in Black and brown communities. Wellness activations at Black Cannabis Week included free deep tissue massages and a live sound bowl ceremony, providing attendees with opportunities for natural healing and relaxation.
