Questlove Stars in Music Video for De La Soul Song That Changed His Life
Questlove, the legendary drummer of The Roots, is experiencing a surreal moment after being featured in the music video for De La Soul’s iconic song “Oodles of O’s.” Questlove took to Instagram to share a sneak peek of the long-awaited video, set to be released later this month.
The video includes footage from De La Soul’s “Oodles of O’s” pop-up donut shop in New York City, featuring appearances from Questlove, Common, Masta Ace, and other notable figures. For Questlove, being a part of the video for a song that played a pivotal role in his life was a dream come true.
Reflecting on the impact of the song, Questlove wrote on Instagram, “Remember the first song on the album that floored you so much that you and your friend from high school started getting serious about getting a record deal.” He humorously added, “You are going to be in the video for ‘Oodles Of O’s’ some 33 years later after its release but damnit it was worth the wait!”
In addition to his involvement in the music video, Questlove recently credited rap legends Common and Pete Rock for inspiring him and Black Thought to finish The Roots’ upcoming 15th album, tentatively titled “End Game.” Questlove expressed his belief that the album will spark a renaissance in the music industry, alongside other highly anticipated releases from rap veterans.
Fans can look forward to the full release of the “Oodles of O’s” music video on October 18, as well as the highly anticipated album from The Roots, set for a significant release date in 2025.
