Diddy Appeals Bail Denial, Disputes Witness Tampering Allegations
Diddy Fights Back Against Witness Tampering Accusations in Bail Appeal
Music mogul Diddy is not backing down in his fight for bail while he awaits trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. In a recent appeal to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, Diddy’s attorney Alexandra Shapiro argued vehemently against the government’s accusations of witness tampering.
The government had successfully denied Diddy’s proposed $50 million bail package, citing concerns of potential witness intimidation. However, Shapiro’s motion stated that there was no evidence to suggest that Diddy had threatened or tampered with witnesses in any way.
Despite this argument, Diddy was denied bail for a second time in a hearing on September 18. Judge Andrew Carter Jr. ruled that the government had proven Diddy to be a danger and that the bail package was insufficient to mitigate the risk of flight.
During the hearing, government lawyer Emily Johnson claimed that Diddy had contacted alleged victims multiple times, attempting to persuade them that their encounters were consensual. She argued that the bail package did not contain enough safeguards against witness obstruction.
Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, countered these claims by offering to have a private investigation firm monitor Diddy’s activities and highlighting his client’s commitment to rehab for drug abuse and anger issues.
In a last-ditch effort to secure bail, Diddy presented a revised package with additional restrictions, including no non-family female visitors and weekly drug testing. Despite these efforts, the judge ultimately rejected the bail proposal once again.
The battle over Diddy’s bail continues as both sides prepare for the next steps in the legal process.
