Dr. Dre Sued for $10 Million for Allegedly Harassing Marriage Counselor

Dr. Dre is facing a $10 million lawsuit from marriage counselor Dr. Charles J. Sophy, who alleges that the hip-hop mogul engaged in a campaign of harassment and threats against him during their counseling sessions with Dre and his ex-wife Nicole Young.

According to the lawsuit, Sophy claims that Dre’s frustrations with the mediation process led to a sustained campaign of late-night texts, threats of intimidation and violence, and homophobic rhetoric directed at the counselor. The lawsuit seeks $10 million in damages and a restraining order against Dre.

The alleged harassment began in February 2023 when Dre contacted Sophy via text message, claiming he had been told something disturbing. The messages reportedly escalated with Dre threatening Sophy, saying “You’re going to have to pay for that.” Sophy also claims that Dre sent fake FBI agents to his home, causing him to fear for his safety and wear a bulletproof vest.

In response to the lawsuit, Dre’s attorney Howard King stated that the lawsuit is a retaliation to a complaint filed by Dre against Sophy to the California’s Osteopathic Medical Board. King accused Sophy of inserting himself into the couple’s contentious divorce and encouraging their children to take sides against Dre.

The legal battle between Dr. Dre and Dr. Charles J. Sophy continues to unfold as both parties present their sides of the story in court.
