Dame Dash Almost Caught in Hurricane Milton’s Path: The Pressure to Stay or Go
Famed hip-hop executive Dame Dash found himself in a precarious situation as Hurricane Milton wreaked havoc in Florida this week. In a shocking revelation, Dash shared how he almost didn’t evacuate with his family due to concerns about how they would be perceived by their neighbors.
In an Instagram Live video, Dash explained, “We were like, ‘all right, we’re gonna try to grind it out and stay. Because none of our neighbors were leaving and the people that we know that are from Florida, like everyday, all day it kinda seemed like we were soft if we were leaving — pause.”
Dash recounted previous experiences with natural disasters, including being caught in wildfires in Malibu and Wyoming. These experiences ultimately led him to prioritize his family’s safety and make the decision to evacuate ahead of Hurricane Milton’s landfall.
While many were relieved that Dash and his family made it out safely, some social media users criticized his initial hesitation to evacuate. One user commented, “A grown ass man worried about strangers would think if he evacuated his family from a Hurricane…SMH. I thought he was a Boss.”
Despite the backlash, Dash emphasized the importance of having a plan in place for future natural disasters, stating, “If you live in a place where natural disasters happen, like hurricanes, like once a year, you gotta have a hurricane house on deck to go to.”
As Hurricane Milton continues to cause devastation in Florida, Dash’s story serves as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing safety over perception in times of crisis.
