Pharrell Williams Opens Up About Overcoming Ego to Create “Piece by Piece” LEGO Biopic
Pharrell Williams’ new animated LEGO biopic “Piece by Piece” has finally hit theaters, but the road to its creation was not an easy one. At an early screening in Los Angeles, Pharrell revealed that his own ego almost prevented the film from being made.
The mega-producer admitted that he initially struggled with the idea of delving into the project because he found the thought of his own voice being at the center of the film boring. He explained, “I don’t often appreciate my own voice and my own story because it’s boring for me.”
However, Pharrell eventually had a change of heart and realized that by overcoming his ego, he could create something truly reflective of himself and express his creativity in a new way. He humbly acknowledged the role of others in his success and emphasized the importance of gratitude.
In his parting words to the audience, Pharrell encouraged everyone to hold onto their dreams and have the audacity to believe in them, no matter their age. He emphasized that it’s never too late to pursue a dream and urged people to “build that dream piece by piece.”
Directed by Morgan Neville, “Piece by Piece” is now available in theaters for audiences to experience Pharrell’s journey of self-discovery and creativity.
