Serena Williams Puts Health First: Reveals Removal of Benign Cyst
Serena Williams puts her health first, as she recently revealed that she had to miss the Glamour Women of the Year award ceremony due to a benign cyst in her neck. In a TikTok video posted on Oct. 15, Williams shared that she had a branchial cyst the size of a small grapefruit removed from her neck after discovering a lump back in May.
Despite being initially mortified by the cyst, Williams underwent tests and a biopsy which led to the decision to have it removed due to its rapid growth. The tennis legend shared her journey in the hospital, including the insertion of a drain post-surgery.
After leaving the hospital, Williams wasted no time in returning to her role as a mom, taking her daughter Olympia to the American Girl doll store. Despite missing out on events like the Glamour Women of the Year awards and Rafael Nadal’s retirement celebration, Williams expressed gratitude for her health and the successful outcome of the surgery.
Williams emphasized the importance of prioritizing health and listening to medical advice, even when it means missing out on important events. She reassured her fans that she is on the path to healing and expressed gratitude for the support she has received throughout this challenging time. Serena Williams serves as a reminder that health should always be a top priority, no matter the circumstances.
