CBC Launches National Bus Tour in Support of Harris-Walz Campaign, First Stop in Georgia
Members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) are gearing up to hit the road in support of the Harris-Walz campaign, with their first stop scheduled for this weekend in Georgia. The CBC, known as the “conscience” of Congress, represents millions of voters across key states crucial for Vice President Kamala Harris to secure victory in November.
The bus tour will feature CBC Chairman Rep. Steven Horsford and several Georgia representatives, including Hank Johnson, Nikema Williams, Lucy McBath, Sanford Bishop, and others. Rep. Horsford emphasized the importance of Harris’ “Opportunity Agenda” for Black Americans, highlighting the contrast with Trump’s agenda that would make life harder for Black communities.
The CBC members will visit swing states to engage Black voters and promote Harris’ platform, starting in Savannah and making stops in Atlanta and Macon throughout the weekend. With early voting in Georgia already underway, the CBC aims to rally support for Harris and the Democrats’ vision for Black Americans.
Black voters have been a key focus this election cycle, with Harris working to improve Democrats’ standing with this crucial voting bloc. Georgia, in particular, is a critical state for Democrats, as seen in the historic wins in the 2020 election. Democratic leaders are hoping to replicate their successes in Georgia and secure a victory for Harris, a former CBC member.
Harris’ potential presidency is seen as essential for advancing the CBC’s legislative agenda, including economic policies to close the racial wealth gap and key legislation like the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. The CBC’s support for Harris and the Harris-Walz campaign underscores the importance of Black voters in shaping the future of the country.
