Florida Auto Salesman Faces Prison Time for Illegal Repossession Attempt Targeting Haitian American Customer

In a shocking turn of events, a Florida auto salesman has found himself on the wrong side of the law after targeting a Haitian American customer in an illegal attempt to repossess a vehicle. The Department of Justice announced that 58-year-old Erik Hadad, an employee at Guru Auto Sales in South Florida, has been sentenced to spend several years behind bars for his actions.

The incident, which took place in October 2023, involved a 24-year-old Haitian immigrant who had purchased a 2020 Honda Accord from the dealership. However, the customer was not provided with a copy of the sales paperwork, leaving him unaware of the dealership’s agreement with a finance company. This agreement stipulated that if the customer missed a payment within the first two months of owning the car, the dealership would be responsible for repaying the loan.

When the customer’s first payment bounced back in November 2023, the finance company demanded repayment from Guru Auto Sales. Despite the customer making the payment and late fee, Hadad took matters into his own hands and attempted to repossess the vehicle. He aggressively confronted the customer at a red light, ripped off the temporary tag, and brandished a firearm in an attempt to force the customer out of the car.

Hadad’s actions ultimately led to his arrest on federal carjacking charges. He now faces up to 15 years in prison for his illegal and dangerous behavior. As for Guru Auto Sales, the dealership has been permanently closed, leaving behind a trail of chaos and legal repercussions.
