HBCU Athletic Conference Secures Deal for Postseason Basketball Tournament at Stillman College

The HBCU Athletic Conference has solidified a long-term partnership for its postseason basketball tournament, with Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, set to host the men’s and women’s tournaments in 2025 and 2026. This announcement comes after the success of the 2024 tournament, which saw an economic impact of $750,000 for the local economy.

HBCUAC Commissioner Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes expressed her excitement about the continued partnership with Visit Tuscaloosa and Stillman College, stating that they have helped enhance the championship experience for both men’s and women’s basketball tournaments. The upcoming tournaments will feature 13 institutions playing 24 games over six days, with a projected economic impact of nearly $1 million.

President & CEO of Visit Tuscaloosa, Kelsey Rush, emphasized the benefits of hosting the championship, not only in terms of economic impact but also in showcasing the vibrant community of Tuscaloosa. Stillman College’s athletic director, Terrance Whittle, highlighted the opportunity to showcase the Stillman Tigers as first-year members of the newly branded HBCU Athletic Conference.
