6-Year-Old Boy in Orange County Dies After Babysitter’s Alleged Abuse

The tragic story of 6-year-old Chance Crawford in Orange County, Calif. has left the community reeling with shock and anger. Last week, Chance was taken to the hospital by his babysitter, Ernest Lamar Love, after sustaining critical injuries. However, what authorities discovered about how those injuries were inflicted is nothing short of horrifying.

Love, 41, has been charged with murder, torture, and child abuse causing death after Chance passed away from his injuries. It was revealed that on the day of the incident, Chance was dropped off at Love’s barbershop by his mother, who was working a night shift at a local hospital. While at a nearby park, Chance accidentally peed on himself, triggering a violent and brutal response from Love.

Surveillance footage captured Love walking back into his barbershop with a piece of wood in hand, with Chance following behind. Doctors at CHOC later discovered that Chance had suffered severe injuries, including missing flesh from his buttocks, extreme brain swelling, and a healing fracture on his shoulder blade. Love is accused of beating the young boy with the piece of lumber, pouring hydrogen peroxide on his wounds, and forcing him to do strenuous exercises before finally taking him to the hospital.

Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer expressed his shock and horror at the situation, stating that Chance endured unimaginable terror at the hands of someone who was supposed to protect him. Love now faces a maximum sentence of 32 years to life in prison for his heinous actions.

The parents of Chance, Vance and his mother, are devastated by the loss of their son. Vance described Chance as a happy and great kid who did not deserve such a tragic fate. The community mourns the loss of this innocent child and demands justice for Chance Crawford.
