Tennessee State Faces Tough Test Against North Dakota State

Days before Tennessee State opened its 2024 regular season with a dominant win over Mississippi Valley State, head coach Eddie George witnessed a thrilling matchup between North Dakota State and Colorado. Despite a 31-26 loss, the Bison impressed George and the national TV audience with their resilience and championship pedigree.

“They have the pedigree of a champion,” George said of North Dakota State. “They don’t quit. They don’t blink at adversity.”

Now, Tennessee State (1-0) is gearing up to face the No. 2 Bison in a challenging road game at the Fargodome. North Dakota State, with 17 national championships under their belt, will be a formidable opponent for the Tigers.

“We’re going up against one of the top brands in college football,” George acknowledged. “It’s going to be a great challenge for us.”

To secure a victory, Tennessee State will need a standout performance from veteran quarterback Draylen Ellis, who shined in the season opener with 356 passing yards and three touchdowns. The defense will also have to contain Bison quarterback Cam Miller, who showcased his dual-threat abilities in the previous game.

“He’s the best player we have probably seen in my tenure here,” George praised Miller. “Cam is a remarkable leader. He can run, he can throw. He just makes the right plays at the right time.”

While Saturday’s game will be a tough test for Tennessee State, it won’t be the last meeting between the two programs. North Dakota State is set to visit Tennessee State in Nashville next year.

The highly anticipated matchup between Tennessee State and North Dakota State will kick off at 3:30 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on ESPN+. Fans can expect an intense battle between these two powerhouse programs.
