Detroit Inmate Awarded $100 Million in Lawsuit Against Diddy for Sexual Assault

Detroit inmate Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith hit the jackpot on Monday when he was awarded a staggering $100 million in his lawsuit against music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. The lawsuit, filed by Cardello-Smith, alleged that Diddy drugged and sexually assaulted him at a party in Detroit back in 1997.

The massive payout came after a Michigan circuit court judge handed down a default judgment against Diddy, who chose not to appear for a virtual hearing about the case. In addition to the financial award, Cardello-Smith was also granted a restraining order against Diddy, preventing him from selling off any assets to pay for the suit.

Despite currently serving time at the Earnest C. Brooks Correctional Facility for an unrelated offense, Cardello-Smith’s victory marks the largest judgment ever awarded to a non-attorney and currently incarcerated inmate. This case is just one of several sexual assault lawsuits that have been brought against Diddy, with only one other suit settled on the record – a case filed by his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in November 2023.

The news of Cardello-Smith’s monumental win against the music mogul has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, raising questions about accountability and justice in cases of sexual assault. As the legal battle continues to unfold, the spotlight remains firmly on Diddy and the allegations that have been made against him.
