Playboi Carti and The Weeknd Drop New Singles on New Music Friday
In the midst of the controversy surrounding Kendrick Lamar headlining the next Super Bowl halftime show over Lil Wayne, this week’s New Music Friday singles list features two major names: Playboi Carti and The Weeknd.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting Carti’s new album, I AM MUSIC, and their prayers have been answered with the release of the first single, “All Red.” While the release date for the album is still unknown, Carti’s website promises that copies will ship within six months from September 12, 2024.
The Weeknd is also making waves with the lead single from his upcoming album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, titled “Dancing in the Flames.” The accompanying music video was shot entirely on an iPhone 16 Pro, showcasing The Weeknd’s creativity and innovation.
Other notable releases this week include Joey Bada$$’ collaboration with Chlöe on “Tell Me,” Fat Joe’s summer-ready track “Paradise,” and Busta Rhymes’ party-starter “Do the Busabus Pt. 2.”
Additional new singles come from NLE Choppa, Cam’ron, The Alchemist and ScHoolboy Q, Wale, Juice WRLD, and more, promising a weekend rotation filled with diverse and exciting music.
