Diddy Fights Back Against $100 Million Default Judgement

In a shocking turn of events, music mogul Diddy is pushing back against a recent $100 million default judgement that was awarded to a Detroit inmate named Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith in a civil sexual assault suit. Diddy’s legal team has filed an emergency motion to set aside the default judgement, citing a lack of legal service of process and Cardello-Smith’s alleged history of filing frivolous lawsuits.

Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, has vehemently denied the allegations made by Cardello-Smith, calling him a convicted felon and sexual predator with a history of filing baseless lawsuits. Agnifilo stated that Diddy had never even heard of Cardello-Smith until the news of the judgement broke online.

The legal team argues that Diddy was never properly served the lawsuit, which violates Michigan Court Rule 2.105(A) and therefore the court does not have personal jurisdiction over him. They also claim that even if Diddy had been served, the delay in taking legal action is excused since he only learned about the suit three days ago.

Furthermore, Diddy’s lawyers are seeking to dissolve the temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction that was issued against him, stating that Cardello-Smith is not entitled to injunctive relief as Diddy was never served with the necessary documents.

In a statement, Diddy’s legal team called the lawsuit “frivolous” and based on “obvious fabrications” from a convicted rapist and serial litigant. The Root will continue to follow this developing story as more details emerge.
