Federal Prosecutors Argue Sean “Diddy” Combs is a Threat to Public Safety

Federal prosecutors are pushing for the denial of bail for Sean “Diddy” Combs following his arrest on charges of sex trafficking and sexual violence. In a 16-page letter to the U.S. Magistrate Judge in the Southern District of New York, prosecutors argued that Combs poses a significant threat to public safety and should not be granted bond.

The 14-page indictment against Combs includes charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage prostitutes. These charges come after a series of lawsuits filed against Combs by ex-girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, record producer Lil Rod, and Danity Kane member Dawn Richard, alleging physical abuse, soliciting minors and sex workers, distributing drugs, and various forms of sexual violence.

During a raid of Combs’ mansions, federal officials discovered three AR-15s, over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant, and hundreds of home surveillance cameras in each property. Prosecutors argue that Combs has attempted to obstruct justice by bribing security staff and threatening witnesses to his criminal conduct.

The defense proposed home detention with electronic monitoring and a $50 million bond, but prosecutors deemed this insufficient to prevent Combs from evading prosecution. They are urging the court to deny bail for Combs, citing the seriousness of the charges and the ongoing threat he poses to the community. The court has yet to respond to the prosecutors’ request.
