Kevin Hart Faces Backlash for Controversial Comments About College Students in Delaware

Kevin Hart is known for his quick wit and comedic timing, but a recent joke he made about college students in Delaware has landed him in hot water. During a press stop at “The Breakfast Club” to promote his limited series, “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist,” Hart made some controversial comments about historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

While discussing the strong connection that HBCU alumni have to their alma maters, Hart made a joke about people who can’t let go of their college experience. Executive producer Will Packer, who is a proud graduate of Florida A&M University, defended the importance of HBCUs, prompting Hart to make a comment about Delaware State University not being a “real” HBCU.

Hart’s comments didn’t sit well with DSU students and social media users, who took to Twitter to express their displeasure. Some defended Hart’s joke as harmless, while others criticized him for disrespecting the university and its students. The controversy comes at a time when DSU is gaining recognition for its academic excellence, currently ranking in the top 10 HBCUs according to U.S. News & World Report.

As the backlash against Hart continues to grow, it remains to be seen how the comedian will address the situation and whether he will apologize for his remarks. In the meantime, the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of sensitivity and respect when discussing sensitive topics like race and education.
