T.I. Nears First Solo Diamond Plaque with Spree of New RIAA Certifications

T.I. is on the brink of making history as he inches closer to earning his first-ever diamond plaque as a solo artist. The Atlanta rap legend recently received 16 new gold and platinum certifications from the RIAA, with his hit single “Whatever You Like” reaching an impressive eight-times platinum status.

The certification signifies at least eight million sales in the U.S., putting the 2008 track just two million units away from achieving diamond status. Other notable certifications include “Live Your Life” with Rihanna at seven-times platinum, “Dead and Gone” featuring Justin Timberlake at five-times platinum, and classics like “What You Know” and “Bring ‘Em Out” now double platinum.

In addition to his singles, T.I.’s albums also received new plaques, with “Paper Trail” reaching four-times platinum, “King” and “Urban Legend” going double platinum, and “No Mercy” joining the platinum club. While T.I. technically already has a diamond plaque for his feature on Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” earning one for his own release would be a monumental achievement.

Joining the ranks of Eminem, Drake, Kanye West, and other hip-hop heavyweights with diamond certifications would solidify T.I.’s legacy in the music industry. Despite his recent success, the 43-year-old is not slowing down and has teased his upcoming 12th and final album, a double disc effort titled “Kill the King” and “Kiss the King.”

With his impressive track record and continued dedication to his craft, T.I. is poised to make history and cement his status as a rap icon in the industry.
