    SWAC Announces 2024-25 Women’s Basketball Predicted Order of Finish and Preseason Awards

    The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) set the stage for the upcoming 2024-25 Women’s Basketball season with the announcement of the Predicted Order of Finish and Preseason All-SWAC teams and individual award winners during the league’s media day event.

    Grambling State emerged as the frontrunner in the preseason poll, receiving 10 first-place votes. They were followed by Southern, Alabama A&M, Jackson State, and Florida A&M in the top five selections. Alcorn State, Bethune-Cookman, Texas Southern, Alabama State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and Mississippi Valley State rounded out the rankings from 6th to 12th.

    Alcorn State’s Destiny Brown was named Preseason Player of the Year, showcasing her skills as a top performer on both ends of the court. Brown led her team in scoring, rebounds, steals, and blocks during the previous season, making her a standout player to watch in the upcoming campaign.

    Alabama A&M’s Alisha Wilson claimed the title of Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, known for her dominant presence in the paint and shot-blocking abilities. Wilson’s record-breaking performance in rebounds and consistent defensive contributions earned her well-deserved recognition from the league.

    The SWAC also announced the All-SWAC First and Second Teams, highlighting the top players to watch in the upcoming season. With the stage set and anticipation building, fans can look forward to an exciting season of Women’s Basketball in the SWAC.
