Jackson State Dominates Texas Southern in SWAC Opener

Jackson State bounced back from a tough offensive performance with a dominant 43-14 win over Texas Southern in their SWAC opener. Quarterback Jacobian Morgan led the charge, accounting for two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in the victory.

The Tigers came into the game looking to re-establish their rushing attack and limit turnovers, and Morgan delivered on both fronts. He passed for 185 yards and ran for 96 yards, showcasing his dual-threat ability. Running back Irv Mulligan and wide receiver Joanes Fortilien also made significant contributions to the offensive effort.

Defensively, Reid Pulliam led the way with seven tackles, while the Tigers recorded seven tackles for loss to stifle the Texas Southern offense. The special teams unit also got in on the action, with a blocked punt for a safety and a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Jackson State’s offense clicked on all cylinders, with long, time-consuming drives resulting in points on the board. The team’s opening drive set the tone for the game, and they never looked back, pulling away in the second half to secure the victory.

With the win, Jackson State improves to 3-2 on the season and 1-0 in SWAC play. The Tigers will look to build on this momentum as they continue their conference schedule.
