Mayor Tiffany Henyard Faces Eviction Notice and Financial Scrutiny
Dolton, Ill.’s self-proclaimed “Super Mayor” Tiffany Henyard is facing more trouble as she and her boyfriend, Kamal Woods, have been named in an eviction notice filed in Cook County. The notice pertains to Henyard’s rental home on the 14600 block of South Harvard, where they are allegedly behind $3,300 in rent.
According to FOX 32 Chicago, the property owner claims that Henyard has refused to allow property inspection, adding to the mounting issues. Henyard denies the claims, stating that she is not behind on rent, but the eviction notice suggests she may have to appear in court on Oct. 22.
This latest development comes on the heels of scrutiny over Henyard’s spending habits, with a recent revelation that a block party she organized in partnership with Thorton Township cost over $85,000. Additionally, an investigation into the Dolton Village General Fund revealed a negative balance of $3.65 million, with allegations that Henyard spent exorbitant amounts on personal expenses, including a $43,000 shopping spree on Amazon in a single day.
The village trustees have taken action to limit Henyard’s powers, securing an injunction to prevent her from appointing new village members without their consent. The FBI has also launched an investigation into Dolton Village Hall, although updates on the progress of that probe have not been provided.
As Henyard’s troubles continue to mount, residents and officials alike are left questioning the leadership of the self-proclaimed “Super Mayor” and the future of Dolton under her administration.
