Michigan State Police Sued for Humiliating Traffic Stop: Black Motorist Alleges Racial Profiling and Misconduct

The shocking experience of Dakarai Larriett with Michigan State Police has sparked outrage and calls for accountability. The Black motorist has decided to sue the state police after a humiliating traffic stop that was captured on body cameras. Larriett claims he was racially profiled, made fun of, and subjected to homophobic remarks during the incident in Benton Harbor.

In the video, Trooper George Kanyuh can be heard insisting that Larriett was under the influence, despite no apparent proof. Larriett was handcuffed, taken to a hospital for testing, and then to jail, where he faced further humiliation. He was accused of trying to smuggle drugs into the jail, forced to undergo a stomach scan, and publicly defecate while being yelled at by Kanyuh.

The federal complaint filed by Larriett’s attorney revealed that the charges against him were immediately dismissed due to lack of evidence and the unlawful nature of the stop and arrest. The attorney also highlighted a pattern of racially discriminatory policing by the Michigan State Police.

Furthermore, Larriett discovered a now deleted social media account allegedly operated by Kanyuh, containing racist, homophobic, and misogynistic content. This revelation adds another layer to the already disturbing incident.

As the lawsuit unfolds, the public is left questioning the actions of law enforcement and demanding justice for Dakarai Larriett. The case sheds light on the ongoing issue of racial profiling and police misconduct, emphasizing the need for accountability and reform within the justice system.
