N.C. Central Football Dominates Campbell University, Secures Third Straight Win
The North Carolina Central University football team continued their winning streak with a dominant 45-14 victory over Campbell University at Barker-Lane Stadium on Saturday. The Eagles improved to 4-2 overall on the season, showcasing their strength on both offense and defense.
Quarterback Walker Harris led the charge for N.C. Central, connecting with Joaquin Davis for a 5-yard touchdown pass on the team’s second drive of the game. The Eagles’ defense also made a statement early on, forcing a three-and-out by Campbell and allowing wide receiver Darryl Taylor to return a punt 68 yards for a touchdown.
Special teams played a crucial role in the Eagles’ success once again, as a botched snap on a Campbell punt gave N.C. Central excellent field position. J’Mari Taylor capitalized on the opportunity with a 1-yard touchdown run, extending the Eagles’ lead to 21-0.
Harris continued to shine, recording his second rushing touchdown of the season from three yards out to give N.C. Central a commanding 28-0 lead at halftime. Despite a brief comeback attempt by Campbell in the third quarter, the Eagles responded with another touchdown pass from Harris to Chauncey Spikes, further solidifying their lead.
Juan Velarde added a 43-yard field goal for the Eagles, and Christian Mosley sealed the victory with a 57-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. N.C. Central’s impressive performance on both sides of the ball proved too much for Campbell to handle, as the Eagles secured their third straight win in convincing fashion.
