R. Kelly’s Daughter Accuses Him of Sexual Abuse in New Documentary
R. Kelly’s daughter, Buku Abi, has come forward with shocking allegations of sexual abuse at the hands of her father in a new documentary titled Karma: A Daughter’s Journey. In the film, Abi recounts a traumatic incident that occurred when she was just eight or nine years old, where she woke up to find R. Kelly touching her.
In a heartbreaking moment captured in the documentary, Abi tearfully reveals, “He was my everything. For a long time, I didn’t even wanna believe that it happened. I didn’t know that even if he was a bad person, that he would do something to me. I really feel like that one millisecond completely just changed my whole life.”
This is not the first time these accusations have been made. Abi reportedly told her mother about the incident in 2009, but they were told the statute of limitations had passed. R. Kelly’s attorney has vehemently denied these allegations, stating that they were previously investigated and found to be unfounded.
R. Kelly is currently serving a 30-year sentence in New York on racketeering charges, and was recently denied an appeal to overturn his sex crime convictions by the Supreme Court. The embattled singer argued that the charges fell outside the statute of limitations, but prosecutors successfully argued that the law’s statute of limitations are indefinite.
Despite these legal battles, Abi’s bravery in coming forward with her story sheds light on the dark reality of abuse and the lasting impact it can have on survivors. The documentary serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of speaking out against abuse and seeking justice for victims.
