Grambling State Offense Faces Critical Crossroads: Changes on the Horizon

The Grambling State offense is facing a critical juncture after a disappointing performance in a 17-15 loss to Alcorn State. With only 306 total yards of offense and a single touchdown, head coach Mickey Joseph is contemplating changes, particularly at the quarterback position.

Senior QB Myles Crawley struggled under pressure, being sacked four times and hit on numerous dropbacks. Joseph had considered replacing him with redshirt sophomore Ashton Frye to incorporate more of a quarterback run game. The offense called for more running plays and increased protection schemes, but the issues persisted.

Joseph acknowledged the need for improvement, hinting at the possibility of playing multiple quarterbacks to provide a run threat and alleviate pressure on the passing game. Prior to the Alcorn State game, Grambling had struggled to score touchdowns, ranking near the bottom of the conference in offensive production.

As the Tigers head into a bye week, Joseph is determined to find solutions to revitalize the offense and get back on track in the SWAC West race. With the team trailing by two games in the division, the pressure is on to make adjustments and spark a turnaround in the remaining games of the season.
