NBA Youngboy Arrested in Utah Over Prescription Drug Fraud Scheme

Baton Rouge native and rapper NBA Youngboy, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, was arrested on Tuesday in Utah in connection to a prescription drug fraud scheme. The 24-year-old artist faces a total of 63 charges related to the alleged scheme to fraudulently obtain promethazine with codeine, commonly known as “lean.”

The charges against NBA Youngboy include possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, pattern of unlawful activity, identity fraud, forgery, attempting to procure drugs, and possession of a controlled substance. Authorities claim that Youngboy, along with several other individuals who were not named, attempted to obtain the cough suppressant from multiple pharmacies in Cache County, Utah.

According to police reports, NBA Youngboy called in a prescription for a 74-year-old woman to a pharmacy in Hyrum, claiming to be a physician from the Provo area. The pharmacist became suspicious and contacted the real doctor, who confirmed that he did not write the prescription. Subsequently, police found a prescription bottle of Promethazine with the name of the alleged patient in Youngboy’s home.

Additionally, marijuana was found in a vehicle registered to Youngboy, and a gun was discovered in his home. Although Youngboy claimed the gun belonged to his wife, court documents state that it was easily accessible to him. As a result, NBA Youngboy was denied bail and booked in the Cache County Jail.

The arrest of NBA Youngboy has shocked fans and the music industry, as the young rapper faces serious charges that could have significant legal consequences. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
