Renowned psychologist and controversial public figure Dr. Umar Johnson is known for never shying away from speaking his mind, and this time he’s setting his sights on NBA superstar Stephen Curry.
In a recent social media post, Dr. Johnson slammed Curry for his involvement in the upcoming Good Times reboot on Netflix, calling it “ratchet” and accusing Curry of perpetuating negative stereotypes about the Black community.
The Good Times reboot, produced by Curry’s production company Unanimous Media, is set to bring back the iconic ’70s sitcom with a modern twist. However, Dr. Johnson believes that the show will do more harm than good, by glorifying poverty and dysfunction within the Black community.
“Stephen Curry should be using his platform to uplift and empower our people, not to reinforce harmful stereotypes,” Dr. Johnson wrote in his post. “We need positive representation in the media, not ratchet portrayals of struggle and hardship.”
Curry has yet to respond to Dr. Johnson’s criticism, but fans are eagerly anticipating his reaction to the controversy. Will Curry defend his involvement in the Good Times reboot, or will he take Dr. Johnson’s words to heart and reconsider his role in the project?
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as the drama between Dr. Umar Johnson and Stephen Curry unfolds.
