Janet Jackson Reveals She Almost Landed Superhero Role in X-Men Movie
Janet Jackson, the iconic pop star, recently revealed that she had the opportunity to play a superhero on the big screen but had to turn it down due to her busy schedule. In a teaser clip of her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Jackson shared that she was offered the role of Storm in an X-Men movie, a role that eventually went to Halle Berry.
The segment began with a photo of Jackson at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards dressed in a Matrix-esque all-black outfit, prompting one of the hosts to mention that they had heard she was “almost in The Matrix.” Jackson clarified that it was actually the role of Storm in X-Men that she had to pass on because she was embarking on her Janet Tour at the time.
This revelation comes after Jackson had previously expressed her desire to play a superhero in a film, citing Storm as one of her favorite Marvel characters. Director Bryan Singer had approached her for the role before casting Halle Berry, but Jackson had to decline due to her touring commitments.
In other news, Jackson recently made headlines for her birthday message to ex-boyfriend Q-Tip, sparking rumors of a possible rekindling of their romance. The pair first met on the set of the film Poetic Justice in 1993 and collaborated on the hit song “Got ‘Til It’s Gone” four years later. Their relationship lasted a few years before they parted ways in 2002.
