California Judge Grants Kevin Hart’s Defamation Claim Against Tasha K: Case Moves Forward
In a recent development, a California judge has granted Kevin Hart’s defamation claim against YouTube entertainment industry blogger Tasha K, allowing the comedian to move forward with the lawsuit. The decision came after Tasha K’s tell-all interview with Hart’s former personal assistant, Miesha Shakes, where false accusations were made about Hart’s involvement in a potential criminal case related to a sex tape recorded in Las Vegas in 2017.
During the hearing in Los Angeles, California Superior Court Judge Holly Fujie rejected a portion of Tasha K’s anti-SLAPP motion, stating that the implication in the interview that Hart was facing criminal charges was enough to allow the defamation suit to proceed. Despite Tasha K’s attempt to dismiss the action under anti-SLAPP statutes meant to protect free expression, the court found that Hart’s claim had a valid basis.
In the interview, Shakes also alleged that Hart had cheated on his wife multiple times, fathered a child with another woman, and had a gambling problem. Hart filed the defamation suit in December 2023 shortly after the interview was released on Tasha K’s website.
While Tasha K may appeal the decision, Kevin Hart is determined to clear his name and win the lawsuit swiftly. This is not the first time Tasha K has faced legal action, as she was previously sued by Cardi B in 2019. The defamation case against Tasha K will continue, as Hart seeks justice and vindication in the court of law.
