Benzino Believes R. Kelly Shouldn’t Rot in Jail for 30 Years: “Everybody Deserves a Second Chance”
Benzino believes that R. Kelly is being treated unfairly after the latter was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges in 2022. During an appearance on the We In Miami podcast, the media proprietor discussed redemption in the context of male artists having sexual relations with underage girls.
“Everybody deserves a second chance,” Benzino said, questioning why R. Kelly is facing such a harsh punishment when the legal age of consent is 16. He argued that while it is wrong for men to engage in relationships with underage girls, he doesn’t believe R. Kelly should rot in jail for 30 years.
Similarly, Boosie Badazz expressed his frustration with R. Kelly’s lengthy sentence, stating that while the R&B veteran was wrong for his actions, he believes the punishment is excessive. Boosie pointed out that people receive shorter sentences for more serious crimes like murder, and suggested that R. Kelly should receive help and a shorter prison term.
Boosie also criticized the parents of Kelly’s victims, highlighting a court document that alleged one of the underage girls’ mothers actively misled the singer about her daughter’s age. Despite the controversy surrounding R. Kelly, Boosie praised him as the “best to ever do it” and expressed his support for the disgraced artist.
The debate surrounding R. Kelly’s sentence continues to spark conversation and controversy among fans and fellow artists, with many questioning the fairness and severity of the punishment.
