Questlove Criticizes Kendrick Lamar-Drake Beef and Rumors of Universal Music Group Intervention
Questlove, the renowned musician and member of The Roots, has weighed in on the ongoing beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, stating that the battle is not about skill. In a recent Instagram post, Questlove expressed his disappointment in the mudslinging and takedown tactics being used by both artists, calling it a wrestling match level of aggression.
The rumor mill has been churning with reports that Universal Music Group is considering stepping in to mediate the feud with a group Zoom call involving Lamar and Drake. Allegations of Lamar damaging Drake’s reputation with pedophile accusations have been circulating online, but TMZ has debunked these claims as “totally unfounded.”
Despite the drama, it seems that the feud is only fueling the fire for both artists. Kendrick Lamar’s track “Not Like Us” has broken records, surpassing Drake’s hit “Girls Like Girls” in single streaming day numbers. The song has topped the Global Spotify chart with a staggering 10.986 million streams, marking the biggest streaming day for a hip-hop song in 2024.
As the feud continues to escalate, it remains to be seen whether Universal Music Group will indeed intervene or if the artists will find a way to settle their differences on their own. In the meantime, fans can’t seem to get enough of the drama and the music that has come out of it.
