Stillman College made history with a 7-3 victory over Indiana University Southeast at the NAIA Opening Round, marking their first-ever win in the NAIA tournament. The Tigers’ three runs in the fifth and sixth innings propelled them to victory and matched their single-season program wins record.

Head coach Joel Penfield expressed his excitement for the team’s performance, stating, “We’re not here to just play two games, and obviously, we’re not now.” The Tigers will now face top-seeded Jessup University in the next round.

The game started with Indiana University Southeast taking an early lead, but Stillman fought back with a run in the fourth inning. The Tigers’ bats came alive in the fifth and sixth innings, with key hits from players like Lauren Haskins and Anniston Jones.

Pitcher Lexi McCray put in a solid performance, allowing only one earned run through 4.1 innings before being relieved by Jasmine Wade, who pitched 2.2 scoreless innings to secure the win.

Stillman College Athletics shared the top moments from the historic victory on Twitter, showcasing the team’s determination and skill on the field. The Tigers are now looking forward to their next challenge against Jessup University, ready to continue their impressive run in the tournament.
