ALTR: Viola Davis, Joy Reid, and Charlamagne Tha God Back Launch of New Mindset App for the Black Community

Viola Davis, Joy Reid, and Charlamagne Tha God are teaming up to support the launch of ALTR, a groundbreaking mindset app designed specifically for the Black community. The app, set to launch later in 2024, will feature short-form audiobooks by Black cultural icons and authors, focusing on personal development and learning.

ALTR, co-founded by CEO David A. Wilson and CTO Brandon John-Freso, aims to address the unique life obstacles faced by the Black community. The app will cover topics such as mental well-being, financial stability, spirituality, and personal relationships, providing much-needed guidance and support.

Wilson expressed the importance of having authentic voices and perspectives in the self-help and wellness space, highlighting the lack of representation for the Black community. The app will offer a platform for trusted voices to share their knowledge in a snackable format that aligns with the fast-paced consumption habits of listeners.

In addition to audiobook miniseries, ALTR will facilitate community engagement through Q&A sessions, discussions, and assignments, fostering a sense of connection and support among users. The app is a collaboration with Viola Davis and Julius Tennon’s JuVee Productions, ensuring a diverse range of content that resonates with the Black community.

Investors like Viola Davis, Joy Reid, and Charlamagne Tha God are excited about the potential impact of ALTR. Davis emphasized the power of collective knowledge, while Reid highlighted the need for clarity and community in uncertain times. Charlamagne Tha God sees ALTR as a game-changer in the audio-based media market, providing much-needed positive impact.

ALTR is currently open for early-access sign-ups and is expected to launch in the third quarter of 2024. Free trials will be available, with a focus on uplifting the Black community in areas where they face disproportionate challenges. This innovative app is poised to make a significant difference in the lives of its users, offering guidance, support, and a sense of belonging.
