    Investigation Underway in Fatal Shooting of Black Matriarch on Mother’s Day Weekend

    Montgomery, Ala. police are currently investigating a tragic shooting that occurred over Mother’s Day weekend, resulting in the death of a beloved matriarch in a Black family. The victim, Gloria, was hosting a Mother’s Day celebration at her home when the horrifying incident took place.

    According to Gloria’s son, Jerrell Crews, the family was gathered at their home on Cobbington Road enjoying a festive meal when multiple individuals armed with assault rifles emerged from the bushes and opened fire on the crowd. The sound of over 100 shots rang out, causing chaos and panic among the attendees.

    In a heroic act, Gloria rushed to protect the children playing outside, but tragically, she was struck in the neck by a bullet in the process. Despite efforts to save her, Gloria succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

    Authorities have confirmed that the shooting will be investigated as a homicide, and a $20,000 reward has been offered for any information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Family friend Carron Morrow described Gloria as a kind and loving individual, emphasizing the need to not let hate prevail in the wake of this senseless tragedy.

    As the community mourns the loss of Gloria, her funeral is scheduled for May 25. The family is devastated by the sudden and violent end to what was meant to be a joyous occasion, and they are seeking justice for their beloved matriarch.
