Shocking Confession During Police Job Interview Leads to Guilty Verdict for Black Man in Orange County, Fla.
In a shocking turn of events, a recent guilty verdict was handed down by an Orange County, Fla. jury in connection to a disturbing confession made by a Black man during a job interview to be a police officer. Stephen Bodley, who was interviewing for a position at the Apopka Police Department on June 16, 2021, was asked during a voice stress examination if he had ever sexually assaulted anyone.
To everyone’s surprise, Bodley admitted to sexually assaulting a child when he was younger, revealing details of the incidents that occurred in his home a decade ago. He described playing “sexual games” with the child, stating that he used to watch a lot of porn and had a “little addiction” when he was younger. The interview was immediately terminated, and Bodley was later arrested.
Following the confession, detectives met with the victim and their mother, who expressed disbelief at Bodley’s actions. Despite their testimonies, a jury convicted Bodley of sexual battery on a child less than 12 by a person less than 18. He is set to be sentenced in June.
This shocking case serves as a reminder of the importance of thorough background checks and screenings for individuals applying for positions of authority and trust. The community is left reeling from the revelation of such disturbing behavior, and justice must now be served for the victim and their family.
