Tragic Shooting of Bronx Teen Leaves Community in Shock and Grief
A Bronx mother’s world was shattered when she received the devastating news that her 16-year-old son, Alberto “Amir” Roque, had been fatally shot in broad daylight while watching a group of men play dice outside a smoke shop. The incident, which occurred just feet away from the NYPD’s 42nd Precinct, left the community in shock and mourning.
According to reports, Roque got into an argument with one of the men, who then pulled out a gun and shot him in the head. Despite being rushed to Lincoln Hospital, Roque tragically succumbed to his injuries the following morning. The young teen, described as a lover of baseball, cycling, art, and rescuing stray animals, was on the brink of finishing his junior year of charter school and had dreams of pursuing a career in engineering to escape the violence of his neighborhood.
His grief-stricken mother, who remains unnamed, recounted the heart-wrenching moment she learned of her son’s fate, dropping to the ground in anguish. She shared that Roque was wise beyond his years, always seeking knowledge and a better future for himself and his family.
As the investigation into Roque’s senseless murder continues, authorities urge anyone with information to come forward and contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline. The community is left grappling with the loss of a promising young life and the harsh reality of gun violence in their midst.
