Ice Cube Provides Update on Future of Friday Film Franchise with Warner Bros.
Ice Cube has been in a long-standing battle with Warner Bros. over the ownership of his beloved Friday film franchise, but it seems like there may finally be some progress on the horizon. In a recent interview on Sirius XM’s Flavor Of The Week, the West Coast icon revealed that there has been some traction with the studio, thanks to new leadership.
“We finally got some traction with Warner Bros.,” Ice Cube shared with host Flavor Flav. “They want to do it, but the key is it gotta be done, or we shouldn’t mess with it. So they finally came to their senses.”
The Friday series, which includes the films Friday (1995), Next Friday (2000), and Friday After Next (2002), has been a fan favorite for over two decades. However, Cube has been vocal about his frustrations with Warner Bros. owning not only the name of the franchise but also the names of its characters.
Despite facing rejection for his scripts in the past, Ice Cube remains determined to bring the fourth installment of the series to life. He has presented multiple ideas to the studio, but they have yet to come to fruition.
While the LA legend is not interested in entering into a legal battle with Warner Bros., he is committed to convincing them of their wrongdoing. Fans of the franchise can only hope that the long-awaited sequel will soon become a reality, bringing back the beloved characters and humor that made the series a classic.
