Nicki Minaj Avoids Deposition in Case Against Hit-and-Run Driver Who Killed Her Father
Nicki Minaj has successfully avoided taking the stand in a deposition in the case against the hit-and-run driver who tragically killed her father, Robert Maraj. In Touch Weekly reported that Charles Polevich, the driver responsible for the incident, was denied in his attempt to depose the rap superstar over lyrics related to her dad.
A New York judge denied Polevich’s request to have Nicki Minaj answer questions under oath about her childhood. The lawsuit was filed by Nicki’s mother, Carol Maraj, who sued Polevich over the February 2021 incident that took her husband’s life.
Polevich had requested the court’s permission to depose Nicki Minaj as part of the wrongful death lawsuit filed against him. He wanted the rapper to take the stand regarding claims she made about her childhood and her father’s alleged abuse towards her mother.
Nicki Minaj’s father was killed in a hit-and-run accident over three years ago, and Polevich was sentenced to one year in prison for leaving the scene of the incident without reporting it and tampering with physical evidence. He also had his license suspended for six months and was fined $5,000.
Robert Maraj was struck by a vehicle on Long Island in February 2021 and later succumbed to his injuries. The driver fled the scene but eventually surrendered to authorities three days later. The case continues to unfold as Nicki Minaj navigates the legal proceedings surrounding her father’s tragic death.
