Is it Possible for AOC to Impeach SCOTUS Justices?

Democrats, Including AOC, Consider Impeaching Supreme Court Justices

Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is not backing down after the Supreme Court’s recent ruling granting former President Donald Trump immunity from criminal prosecution for some of his actions while in office. In response to the decision, AOC took to social media to express her concerns and intentions.

“The Supreme Court has become consumed by a corruption crisis beyond its control. Today’s ruling represents an assault on American democracy,” AOC wrote on X. “It is up to Congress to defend our nation from this authoritarian capture. I intend on filing articles of impeachment upon our return.”

While AOC’s statement may seem bold, the process of impeaching a Supreme Court justice is complex and challenging. The first step involves a member of the House of Representatives bringing forth articles of impeachment, followed by a vote by the entire House. If the majority approves the articles, the official will be impeached. However, the process does not end there; the U.S. Senate must then hold an impeachment trial, and if the official is found guilty, they will be removed from office.

Despite the difficulty of the impeachment process, AOC’s determination to hold the Supreme Court accountable for what she perceives as corruption is unwavering. While only one justice has been successfully impeached in U.S. history, AOC’s actions could potentially lead to a significant shift within the highest court in the land. The road ahead may be long and challenging, but AOC is prepared to take on the fight to defend American democracy.
