Viola Davis and James Patterson Collaborate on Upcoming Thriller Novel

Oscar winner Viola Davis and best-selling author James Patterson are teaming up for an upcoming thriller novel set in the contemporary, rural South. The novel, set to be released in 2025 or 2026, will follow the story of Judge Mary Stone as she faces a decision with far-reaching consequences for her small county and potentially the entire nation.

This collaboration marks Davis’ first foray into adult fiction, following the success of her memoir “Finding Me” and the picture story “Corduroy Takes a Bow.” Patterson, known for his gripping narratives, has previously worked with a range of co-authors, including former President Bill Clinton and country music icon Dolly Parton.

Davis expressed her excitement about working with Patterson, praising his storytelling abilities and describing the experience of writing about Judge Mary Stone as extraordinary. Patterson, who was inspired to collaborate with Davis after reading her memoir, commended the actor for her storytelling gift and generous spirit.

Details about the book, including potential film rights, have not yet been revealed, and the financial terms of the partnership remain undisclosed. The project was managed by Little, Brown and Company, Patterson’s representatives at Williams & Connolly, and JVL Media, a media packaging firm co-founded by Davis.

Fans of both Davis and Patterson can look forward to a thrilling and thought-provoking novel that promises to captivate readers with its compelling narrative and complex characters.
