Tragic Car Accident Claims Lives of NFL Hopeful and High School Teammates
Khyree Jackson’s NFL Dreams Cut Short in Tragic Car Accident
The promising future of Khyree Jackson, a 24-year-old football player with dreams of playing in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings, was tragically cut short in a car accident that took his life along with two high school teammates. Jackson, along with Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony “A.J.” Lytton Jr., 24, were killed in a devastating crash near their hometown of Upper Marlboro, Md.
The accident occurred when an Infiniti Q50 driven by 23-year-old Cori Clingman forced Hazel’s Dodge Charger off the road and into tree stumps. The impact also involved a Chevrolet Impala, but fortunately, no one in those vehicles was fatally injured. Authorities suspect that alcohol may have played a role in the crash, as Clingman was reportedly driving at a high speed and attempted to change lanes.
Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell expressed his devastation over the loss of Jackson, whom the team had recently drafted in the fourth round. O’Connell praised Jackson’s energy, confidence, and dedication to becoming not only a great football player but also a better person for his loved ones.
A candlelight vigil was held in honor of the three men, who were all former state champions at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School. Their coach, Robert Parrish, fondly remembered the bond they shared and the joy they brought to those around them.
Jackson’s journey from community college to the University of Alabama and eventually to the NFL draft was a testament to his talent and determination. Lytton and Hazel also had promising football careers ahead of them, with Lytton recently listed on the roster at Bowie State University and Hazel preparing to try out for the Canadian Football League.
The football community mourns the loss of these talented young men, whose potential was tragically cut short.
