Michael Vick to Headline MEAC’s “Girls on the Gridiron” Flag Football Clinic

Former NFL quarterback Michael Vick will be making a special appearance at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s “Girls on the Gridiron” Flag Football Clinic this weekend at Norfolk State University. The clinic, now in its second year, aims to promote the growth of women’s flag football and increase diversity and gender equity in the sport.

Vick, a Newport News native who played for the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles, is excited to be a part of the event and help introduce flag football to a new demographic. He believes that the sport has the potential to open up new opportunities for participants, especially at the college level.

MEAC commissioner Sonja Stills expressed her enthusiasm for the clinic, highlighting the importance of championing women’s flag football as it gains recognition on a national level. With the sport set to debut at the Olympics in 2028, the MEAC is committed to driving diversity and inclusion efforts to engage fans from all of its member institutions.

Registration for the clinic is still open to the public and free of charge, running from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dick Price Stadium on Saturday. Vick, a proud father of a daughter who received a college scholarship to play flag football, is passionate about the positive impact the sport can have on young athletes.

Overall, the MEAC’s “Girls on the Gridiron” Flag Football Clinic promises to be a fun and engaging event that will help grow the game and inspire the next generation of female football players.
