North Carolina Central Favored to Reclaim MEAC Championship in 2024 Season
North Carolina Central University is gearing up for the 2024 football season with high hopes of reclaiming the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship. During Tuesday’s Football Media Day event, the Eagles were named the preseason favorite to secure a spot in the Cricket Celebration Bowl in Atlanta.
After finishing the 2023 season with a 9-3 record, North Carolina Central narrowly missed out on the conference title to Howard University. The Bison, who went on to win their first MEAC crown since 1993, were selected to finish second in the preseason rankings.
Despite the setback last season, the Eagles are determined to make a strong comeback. Led by standout players like offensive lineman Trevon Humphrey and defensive back Kole Jones, North Carolina Central has a strong lineup heading into the new season.
Howard University’s Jarett Hunter and Kenny Gallop Jr. were named the offensive and defensive players of the year, respectively, leading the Bison’s charge to defend their title. With a talented roster and a hunger for success, both teams are expected to put on a thrilling performance in the upcoming season.
As the MEAC teams prepare to battle it out on the field, fans can expect an exciting and competitive season ahead. With top contenders like Morgan State, South Carolina State, Norfolk State, and Delaware State also vying for the championship, the race to the top promises to be intense and full of surprises. Stay tuned for more updates as the season unfolds.
