    Netflix Developing Sequel Series to “A Different World” Focused on Dwayne and Whitley’s Daughter

    Netflix is bringing back a beloved classic with a new twist. A sequel series to the hit show “A Different World” is currently in early development at the streaming platform, focusing on the daughter of fan-favorite characters Dwayne and Whitley.

    The new single-cam, half-hour comedy will follow their daughter’s journey at Hillman College, with Felicia Pride, known for her work on “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Bel-Air,” set to helm the project. Joining as executive producers are familiar faces from the original series, including Debbie Allen, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Reggie Bythewood, Mandy Summers, and Tom Werner.

    “A Different World,” a spinoff of “The Cosby Show,” originally aired on NBC in 1987 and ran for six seasons. The show centered around the students and professors at the fictional HBCU, Hillman College, with Dwayne and Whitley’s relationship being a central storyline throughout.

    While casting for the sequel series has not yet begun, conversations with the original cast members have taken place, hinting at possible appearances from familiar faces. The recent reunion of the “A Different World” cast on daytime talk shows sparked excitement for the upcoming project.
