Georgia State Representative Caught in Lie About Organizational Affiliations: A Lesson in Integrity
Georgia State Representative Angela Moore is celebrating a victory on her path to reelection, but her judgment is already being called into question after she was caught in a crazy lie about her organizational affiliations.
After winning the Democratic primary race for District 91 representative in May, Moore’s opponent, Dee Dawkins-Haigler, called her out for misrepresenting herself as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. This lie is particularly egregious because Haigler is actually a member of Delta Sigma Theta.
Moore was caught representing DST on numerous occasions, including posting a picture with a Delta Sigma Theta frame on her social media account and saluting Deltas in the Georgia state house with the organization’s hand sign.
When confronted by a reporter about her membership claims, Moore initially tried to deflect by claiming she pledged under her maiden name. However, she eventually admitted that the whole thing had been a lie.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. confirmed that only Haigler is a card-carrying member of the organization in the race. They emphasized the importance of honesty and integrity in elected officials.
While Moore’s lies may not impact the election outcome, this incident serves as a reminder to always be truthful about affiliations. Hopefully, Moore has learned a valuable lesson about the consequences of dishonesty in politics.
