Tragic Loss of 8-Year-Old Hero Amir Harden: A Story of Courage and Heartbreak

Amir Harden, an 8-year-old boy from Minneapolis, Minnesota, tragically lost his life while trying to protect his mother from his abusive father. The young boy stepped between his parents during a violent altercation and was shot in the head and neck by his father, Danair Harden. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Amir succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Sunday.

Just days before the shooting, Danair had been charged with domestic assault against Cherish Edwards, Amir’s mother. The charges stemmed from a previous incident where he allegedly tried to strangle her during an argument about their relationship ending. Following the tragic event, Danair attempted to take his own life but survived and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Cherish Edwards, Amir’s mother, has set up a GoFundMe campaign to cover moving expenses and bills, as well as to support her other children who witnessed the traumatic event. She described Amir as a leader who was protective of his siblings, athletic, and energetic.

Authorities are still investigating the incident, and if Danair survives, criminal charges will be considered. The community has been left devastated by the loss of young Amir, a true hero who sacrificed himself to protect his family.
