Eminem’s “The Death of Slim Shady” First Week Sales Projections and Controversy
Eminem’s new album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grรขce), is making waves in the music industry with its first-week sales projections. According to HITS Daily Double, the album is expected to earn between 270,000 and 290,000 album-equivalent units in its opening week, securing Eminem a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 chart.
This would mark Eminem’s 11th No. 1 album, putting him on par with music legends like Kanye West, Bruce Springsteen, and Barbra Streisand. While the projected sales numbers fall on the lower end compared to some of his previous albums, The Death of Slim Shady is still expected to outsell his more recent efforts like Revival and Music to be Murdered By.
The album has not been without controversy, as Eminem has stirred up some backlash with his lyrics. Conservative commentator Candace Owens responded to Eminem’s diss towards her on the track “Lucifer,” accusing him of being a closeted homosexual. Owens took to her YouTube channel to express her thoughts, claiming that Eminem’s career should have ended years ago and that he is now at the end of it.
In addition to targeting Owens, Eminem also took shots at Diddy, Ja Rule, Lizzo, and “corny white rappers” on The Death of Slim Shady. Despite the controversy, the album is expected to make a significant impact on the charts and solidify Eminem’s status as one of the greatest rappers of all time.
